Pine nut (pinenut) is also known as pinyon, piñon nut, pignolia, and pignoli, the Spanish explores called them piñon, as they are known by most Hispanics. Pine Nut (pinenut) is commonly misspelled as being a whole word "pinenut". Pine nuts (pinenuts) come from pine tree pinecones, which are edible (see picture above). Pine nuts (pinenuts) are for everyone, people, birds, squirrels ect. The shelled pine nuts (pinenuts) are a great addition to any recipe and the non shelled type are a great snack for you or your parrot or hamster ect.
